German level checker for job ads

Paste a job ad in German or English. The checker finds the German level it asks for, from A1 to C2, and tells you whether German is required or only nice to have. It runs in your browser, so the text never leaves your computer.

Try:

How it reads an ad

It looks at each sentence that mentions German, takes a CEFR level if the ad names one, and otherwise reads the describing word next to it. A word next to "English" counts for English, so "fluent English and basic German" comes out as A2. If the same sentence says "von Vorteil", "a plus" or "nice to have", German is treated as optional.

Words in the adRead as
Grundkenntnisse, basicA2
gut, sicher, fließend, fluentB2
sehr gut, verhandlungssicher, excellentC1
Muttersprache, nativeC2

Employers use these words loosely, so one fixed reading can be a level off for a given company. Our guide on what "verhandlungssicher" really means shows the usual ranges.

This is the same rule Stellenpilot runs on every job it finds. Each morning it collects new jobs in Germany, scores them against your CV and flags the ones whose German level is out of reach. Free, open source, and it runs on your own computer.
